Moreover, people who have suffered a moderate to severe TBI are 50x more likely to experience seizures, 9x more likely to suffer from severe infections, and 6x more likely to develop pneumonia. In addition, people with moderate to severe TBI are 20 percent more likely to die within five years of developing the condition.
More than limiting, frightening, and life-altering, TBI is extremely expensive. It is estimated that lifetime care costs can exceed $3 million. And that’s for care alone.
